Frans Brüggen awarded the ‘VSCD Oeuvre’ prize
Frans Brüggen awarded the ‘VSCD Oeuvre’ prize by the Dutch Association of General Managers of Theatres and Concert Halls (VSCD) for his complete work as a conductor. This prize is designated for people who have contributed extensively to the stage arts in the Netherlands. Brüggen began his career as a recorder player, excelling in repertoire from the renaissance and baroque. He is the founder of the Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century. According to the jury, Brüggen is both a leading light and a source of inspiration for the Dutch symphony orchestras. The prize will be given to Brüggen on November 2nd, 2007, on the opening concert of the Week of Classical Music in Maastricht. In 2007 Frans Brüggen was given the title of ‘honorary conductor of the Radio Kamer Filharmonie’.
