Tuesday 15 June 2010

Recently the nominations for the Golden Roses have been announced. In two of the six Dutch nominations the Netherlands Broadcasting Music Center has participated. It concerns the documentary 'Twee heel gewone broertjes' ('Two ordinary brothers') of the NPS and the 'Knoop Gala'. The Golden Roses – Roses d’or – are the world's most prestigious television awards. Later this year they will be presented for the fiftieth time to the most talked-about television productions.

110 nominations

This presentation deals with broadcasts from 2009. There are 11 categories of various sizes. From all over the world 515 competing productions have been submitted. No less than 110 have then been nominated. The important Rose d’or global Television Festival will take place this September in Lucerne, Switzerland. Until a few years ago the location used to be Montreux. On September 22 one winner in each category will be announced.

Young pianists

The NPS-documentary has been nominated in the Arts Documentary & Performing Arts category together with 11 more nominees. On 29 November 2009 NPS broadcast this documentary about the young pianists and brothers Lucas and Arthur Jussen. It shows their prepation for a concert with the Netherlands Radio Chamber Philharmonic playing Poulenc's Concerto for two pianos. Watch the documentary (in Dutch) here and the concert of September 12 2009. Meanwhile NPS has also made a 'trailer' for this documentary.

Knoop Gala

The Knoop Gala by Teleac takes on 7 other contenders in the Variety Live Event Show category. One of these being the finale of the European Song Festival 2009 in Moscow. The Gala has been the crown on a series of eight Music Master classes of the 'Knoop in je zakdoek' program. Comedian and presentor Paul de Leeuw hosted this Gala in Carré Theatre.  Here all ‘pupils’ from the master classes performed together with their mentors and the Metropole Orchestra.
